In Wansdyke, we’ve moved to a team-based approach. This means we can share the load, and help volunteers work to their skills and experiences.
There are two main parts to the district team, these are:
- The district Trustee Board, responsible for governance, compliance, and finances
- The district operational team, responsible for the day-to-day running of the district, split into six main strands:

- Volunteering development

Responsible for the day-to-day running of the district.
District Lead Volunteer Team
About this team
Where previously there used to be one District Commissioner (DC), the lead volunteer for the district, there is now a team.
Each person in this team looks after one of the district teams (programme, groups, support, volunteering development or general duties).

Programme Team

This team is responsible for the provision of district activities and events, section support (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and 14-25 (Explorers and Network)), nights away (permits and notifications), and activities (permits and notifications).

District Trustee Board
The trustee board has responsibilities to keep the district running from a governance and compliance perspective. It supports the district operational team to complete its duties and provides oversight of:
- Finance (including of Explorer Scout Units)
- Charity Commission compliance
- Data Protection compliance (including of Explorer Scout Units)
- Risk management
- Insurance for the district
- Compliance with The Scouts’ Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR)
- Other responsibilities as set out by The Scouts
