Over 700 young people aged 6 to 18 from Scout Groups and Explorer Units in Wansdyke district gathered recently at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre for WanJam 2024. Held every four years, but delayed recently due to covid restrictions, the fun weekend was on the theme of ‘The Big Fiesta’.

Activities included climbing, shooting, archery, circus skills, slip and slide, campfire, cinema, bingo, quizzes, assault course, fire lighting and backwoods cooking, team building, tomahawk throwing, crossbows, sumo suits, inflatables, escape rooms and lots more.

The official badge for the weekend, which was issued to all who attended, was designed by Eva from High Littleton Scout Group.

District Commissioner James Swallow said, “It was fantastic to see our young people enjoying so many activities, trying new things and making new friends at WanJam 2024. A huge thanks to volunteers Will Holmes and Will Summerill and their team for organising an amazing weekend, as well as to all the leaders and parents who helped out.”

Orrin, a Scout said “We had loads of free time to do everything there. My favourite thing was the assault course”

Ellie, a 7-year old Beaver, said, “I really enjoyed the crossbows and axe throwing. It was really exciting to do.”

Seb, a Scout, said, “I liked meeting Scouts from other troops.”
